International Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
Meet the Consumer Centre UK’s female consumer advisors who give help and advice if you’re in dispute with a trader based outside the UK.
Andy Allen, Consumer Centre UK’s service director, said: “We have a very high-performing team of women at our centre, helping around 15,000 consumers a year. Where successful in 2020, we recovered on average just over £450 per consumer, plus securing repairs, replacements, invoice cancellations, and other remedies.
“Our five female consumer advisors at our centre all make a positive difference in giving help and advice to UK consumers who come to us because they have a problem with something they’ve bought from a trader based outside the UK.
“Our message to women everywhere in the UK is that International Women’s Day is YOUR day. And our female consumer advisors are proof that they are truly making a positive difference for women.
“Everybody needs a little help sometimes and International Women’s Day is an opportunity for us to tell all UK consumers that help is available: they’ve just got to ask for it.”
Consumer Centre UK can provide advice in the following main areas: buying goods and services, online shopping, internet auctions, holidays, timeshare and holiday clubs, air travel. The service gets involved when consumers have a problem with something they’ve bought from a trader based in a country outside the UK.
