This week (Tuesday, 16th July 2024), Juanita Headley of the UK International Consumer Centre (UKICC) and John Herriman, CEO of CTSI, met with representatives of the Consumer Association Singapore (CASE) - including their President, Melvin Yong, and senior colleagues, Dexter Tay, Ong Li Lian and Zhang Yifan.
Celebrating International Co-operation!
The UKICC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Consumer Association Singapore (CASE) back in 2021, with the intention of supporting successful case resolution between the two countries - helping UK consumers who have had a dispute with traders based in Singapore, while also assisting Singaporean consumers with purchases made here in the UK.
The very friendly and constructive discussions covered a range of topics, including the current challenges within consumer protection in both countries, and the importance of having robust mediation processes for consumers and businesses. John shared CTSI's Manifesto aims with the delegation. And they also talked about how the UKICC, CTSI and CASE might all be able to work together more closely in the future.
Everyone at the UKICC (and our colleagues at CTSI) would like to extend our thanks and our warmest wishes to our friends in Singapore, and pay tribute to the important work that CASE does to support consumer rights there, while also helping us support consumers here in the UK.
